However, for more in-depth and specialized topics, additional forms of training and support are available. It ranges a multitude of products and version, and is aimed for a specific level, from novice to expert.
This introductory level course teaches you the DataFlex language, the use of the embedded database, the creation of data entry and report applications based on 9 tables. The application will be built with different techniques (such as Wizards and hand coding) with data access via the global record buffer and DataFlex Data Dictionaries. The use of constraints, selection lists, dialogs, zooms, alias tables and the focus tree discussed in detail. Reporting is taught using all three styles of reporting available in DataFlex.
Day 1: Exploring the goal, explanation of the tools, workspace, language
Day 2: Basic application, database setup, debugger, finding, editing and deleting records, creating the Windows GUI application.
Day 3: Object orientation, views, menus, Data Dictionaries, key assigments, controls, selectionlists, classes
Day 4: Creating more views, floating menus, resizing, dialogs for views, messages, record filters. skinning
Day 5: Timers, templates, Sequential I/O, Import & Export, Batch processes, Reporting, Libraries, Bells and Whistles, Toolpanels. user settings
Expected skills: Microsoft Windows knowledge. Basic knowledge about programming and programming languages (Visual Basic, Delphi, C+ or C#, Java) in general. No DataFlex knowledge is expected. DataFlex must have been already installed on participants laptop/PC.
Expected capabilities after completion: Create and deploy your own medium-level, multi-file DataFlex application successfully

This introductory level course teaches you how to make reports with DataFlex Reports and then how to integrate the reports in a DataFlex application.
Morning: Creating reports; using the DataFlex embedded database and Microsoft SQL server for ODBC based reports.
Afternoon: Integrate reports in a DataFlex application
Expected skills: Microsoft Windows knowledge. For the reporting part a basic knowledge about databases and for the programming part a basis knowledge of the DataFlex language is expected. DataFlex and Microsoft SQL Server (Express) must have been already installed on participants laptop/PC.
Expected capabilities after completion: Create and deploy your own medium-level, reports integrated with a DataFlex application successfully.

Description: This course builds an understanding in general terms of what COM is and then guides participants through the use of OLE controls, Automation Servers and Embedded documents. We learn how to access Microsoft Outlook data structures, Word and Excel from DataFlex.
Expected skills: Completion of, or technical competency, at the level of the Discovering DataFlex course.
Expected capabilities after completion: A working knowledge of the COM concept and DataFlexs COM implementation. Participants should be able to begin using COM in their own applications

Description: In this advanced course, participants will be introduced to the standard terminology used in in web services (SOAP, WSDL etc). Exercises will include creating server and client side implementations of web services and web service deployment.

Description: Participants will be introduced to Extensible Markup Language (XML), its structure and how it operates, followed by how to use it in DataFlex. This course includes reading and writing of XML files via unique and challenging exercises.
Expected skills: Completion of, or technical competency at the level of the introductory Discovering DataFlex course.
Expected capabilities after completion: A solid functional understanding of XML. Ability to can read and write XML files and memory structures for data transfer, use in applications, etc.

For all training that we organize in Hengelo you have the choice between using your own laptop and a machine provided by Data Access Europe. Please express your choice when you subscribe for a training. For all training that is organized in Germany, Denmark, England and Norway we expect that you bring your own hardware (laptop / desktop).
For all of the hands-on training we use self written (English) training materials. We will use these books in the fee based training and help you with answering your questions and solving the potential problems you will discover. Via exercises you will learn how to use what you have learned in a lesson.
The prices listed with each of the described training courses are based on a regular, multiple attendee base. For training in-house we use a consultancy rate. When you have multiple people to follow a training this will be cheaper than signing up multiple people to a regularly scheduled training.
